About Me

Who am I?

Hi! I'm William Schack, a Unity Game Developer having worked on many projects mainly in 3D. I am currently completing year 12, planning to study Computer Science in 2025.

Currently I am working in a few different areas, not just in unity but with blender, qt, and starting web dev as well, expanding and improving my skills, learning new things that I love doing.

I am mainly a solo developer, but I have worked in a team before on multiple games for school projects. My most proficient skill is programming, being what I enjoy the most and what I have taken the most time to learn since 2019 when I started.

I mainly do programming and prototyping as my hobby, but outside of that I enjoy playing video games, taking in and studying nature, hiking, bike riding, and snowboarding when I get the chance.

How I Started

I started game development when I began high school during 2019, not having really anything to do at the time, I decided to take up video game development, as I loved playing video games and learning the ins-and-outs of computers so I thought programming and making games would be perfect, and it was.

I decided to use unity due to its versatility and prevalence at the time over other engines and self-taught all of my skills, starting off with Brackeys' tutorials and moving from there.

Unity was the first thing that got me into programming and game development, and in turn, I am the most proficient with it out of all the tools and languages I have used.

I have completed many projects including games and assets while also working in a team to create innovative applications. They have gained me a lot of experience in all aspects of game development, and general programming, and it has allowed me to even sprout to app development outside of unity which I cannot be more grateful for.

I have also worked in a team creating Virtual Classroom and Trash Master, being the main developer, programming and assembling the applications in unity, while my team mainly worked on the art assets, design, and sound effects. In both occurences we planned out the project, using an SRS document for Virtual Classroom, and collaborated to create a well made product for the limited time constraints and were able to overtake the expectations required.

Since I started development with the language I have gained a fair bit of experience and I really enjoy using it!

Spotify Downloader is the only project that I have created using C++ in conjunction with Qt for the GUI, so I am by no means completely fluent in the language yet, but it has taught me a lot and I can confidentally say I can create another program with it.

I have used blender in conjunction with Unity since I began developing with it but I only seriously started learning in 2024.

In the past I have created small models for video games such as weapons and props, but I have started creating environments such as Beach Terminal, and animations such as Dive Into Dreams.

There is still much I have to learn surrounding 3D modelling but progress is developing steadily! Currently I would say that I could create anything thrown at me but it may take a while with some research, and it wont be perfect, but the result would still work great in a video games.
